G.H. Bass & Co. Bass Weejuns are the original Penny Loafer. In the late 1930s, students stuck one-cent coins for the coin telephone in the iconic front slot of the loafer at the universities of the Ivy League. So the "Penny Loafer" was born and the rest is, as is said, history. Bass Weejuns were immediately viewed as the classic of the Ivy League "relaxed formal clothing" and became more and more popular in the 1950s and early 1960s than the Ivy League style around the world came up.

After decades of imitations, G.H. Bass & Co remained the inventor of the Penny Loafer and still produces moccasin loafer as they did 80 years ago. Hand sewn, made by a shoe handlebar and refined with natural oils and polishes.
