The Egyptian cotton is grown and processed in the Nildelta and then spun into the highest quality yarns in Italy. The fibers of this Egyptian cotton 'Giza 88' are very long, which means that they can be spun into a very fine yarn. These long fibers are also resistant to pilling and therefore result in very durable, hard -wearing socks.
The Mercerization process removes all loose fibers from the yarn, which means that it is completely smooth and lint -free. The result is that the socks made of merzerized cotton have a very silky and shiny look. The Mercerization process also increases the porosity of the yarn, which means that it can be colored for a deep, rich, rich and lively color palette and maintains this color well.

What is merced cotton?
Pantherella uses the finest Italian, extra -fitting Egyptian cotton for socks made of merzerized cotton. The extra -long stacking determines the highest quality of the cotton because it uses even fiber lengths of over 33 mm. This yarn consists of two strands, which are twisted with an additional rotation per inch as a cotton of lower quality, which creates a single, strong thread. After spinning, the cotton goes through a Mercerization process (developed in 1844 by John Mercer from Great Harwood, Lancashire, England), where it is led through a flame at high speed to remove all scattered surface fibers. The result is a shiny, shrink and pills-resistant yarn that brilliantly absorbs the color and at the same time keeps its silky shine.
